Along our city’s central avenue,
Sites a quaint storefront trimmed in blue,
Today you may visit it and leave feeling framed,
But a man who worked there long ago was ultimately blamed,
For bottling a secret in this bit of real estate,
Now peer above the windows—the stones are inscribed with what date?*

Are you intrigued by the riddle above?

Then get ready for the Fort Collins Museum Foundation's fifth annual History Mystery Challenge on August 27, 2010, from 6-10 pm in the Heritage Courtyard (and elsewhere – but that’s the Mystery!). History Mystery is the premier fundraising event of the season and supports the Fort Collins Museum Foundation, ensuring continued support for Museum needs into the future.

Teams of 4-6 players join mind and muscle to solve clues in record time – 90 minutes to search Old Town for clue answers, and then beat the clock back to the Museum. Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, beverages and door prize drawings while an impartial committee reviews the answer sheets (an envelope with the correct answers has been hermetically sealed and kept in a mayonnaise jar on Brent’s back porch). Teams with the most correct answers face off in a trivia contest, with the winning team receiving a prize, and most importantly, bragging rights for a full year! Costumes are encouraged – costumed teams are eligible for even MORE fun and prizes!

  • Registration begins July 19th and ends August 25th
  • Fax your registration form to Beth at 970-416-2236
  • Participants must be over 21 years old
  • $25 per person
  • Teams of less than four players are welcome - we'll hook you up!
  • Call 970-221-6738 for more information

WE HOPE YOU’LL JOIN US FOR FUN AND ADVENTURE!

  • Teams consist of 4 to 6 members, 21 years of age and older. Individuals are welcomed. We’ll put you on a team.
  • Costumes are encouraged – costumed teams are eligible for ADDITIONAL fun and prizes!
  • Teams must register each team member and select a team name, or else we'll select a team name FOR YOU (buyer beware & all that). The Team Contact person will coordinate all Team Members and pass along information from the Museum as needed before the event.
  • Teams will meet at the Fort Collins Museum & Discovery Science Center, 200 Mathews Street, at 6:00 p.m. to receive Challenge materials and sustenance (food & beverages) for the evening’s scavenger hunt.
  • Teams must travel by foot. Leave your cars, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and other wheeled vehicles at the Museum. (Wheelchairs are accepted with prior notification!)
  • Teams must work together at all times. Dividing the clues among team members and using technology to communicate is considered unfair. Cell phones may only be used to locate missing team members or to check on the babysitter.
  • Teams must not peek at the clues prior to the “kick-off” buzzer. Remember the tests you took in school where you couldn’t open the test booklet ahead of time? This is just like that.
  • "Get a Clue" from clue salespeople along your trip. This is a fundraiser! Bring cash if you hope to get a clue.
  • Teams must return to the Museum within 90 minutes to participate in the awards ceremony. There will be food, beverages, prizes, and more fun.
  • Having fun IS required. We will enforce this rule throughout the evening if we think it's necessary.
  • Team sponsorships are welcomed. Team Registration Sponsors donate $1,000 and receive a free team registration plus recognition in print materials and signage. Call Beth at 970-416-2727 for sponsorship details.

TEAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 25th!
